Only one text of this song has been found. It seems to be related to "Well, She Ask Me in De Parlor" in Odum and Johnson, The Negro and His Songs, p. 258- Cf. also "She Hugged Me and Kissed Me" in Talley, Negro Folk Rhymes, p. 131; and Cambiaire, East Tennessee and West-em Virginia Mountain Ballads, p. 21 ("The Soldier Boy").
